Today, I’ll share one favorite DIY lip scrub that I whipped up last month when my lips were going through a dry spell. I ran out of my favorite lip scrub and needed a remedy fast, so I turned to my pantry for help.
Little did I know I’d wind up creating one of my favorite beauty concoctions yet: a coconut, brown sugar, and peppermint lip scrub. You won’t believe the difference this makes.
So, here’s a quick guide to help you eliminate unsightly dead skin and rejuvenate your pout.
DIY Lip Scrub Recipe
To make this lip scrub, gather the items below.
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- 2 teaspoons brown (or white) sugar
- 1 teaspoon raw honey
- 3-5 drops peppermint oil
- Storage jars/containers of your choice (decorative ribbon optional)
First, grab a dish. Then, mix the coconut oil, brown sugar, and honey. Next, add three to five drops of peppermint essential oil and blend.
You can also substitute cornmeal for the sugar. Both cornmeal and sugar work well, but feel free to experiment to see which one you like best. However, use the lip scrub twice per week for the best results.
Then, store the leftover lip scrub in an airtight jar or container.
Aftercare and Storage
Next, coat your lips with your favorite lip balm. Weleda Skin Food Lip Butter, $6.99, is my favorite balm because it hydrates even the most parched lips.
Use this lip butter after exfoliating, and your lips will feel baby smooth.
Also, feel free to get creative with the packaging and dress up the jars with festive ribbons. These decorated scrubs also make cute homemade holiday gifts for friends and family.
So, whip up this DIY minty lip scrub whenever your lips look like they need some love. However, use this scrub twice per week for the best results. Now, enjoy your lip scrub, and check back for more beauty recipes and skincare tips.
